The doors of our Church are wide open! You are invited to come in!
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a program of induction into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. More than that, it is a faith journey designed to meet our fundamental spiritual needs as God’s children. It helps us identify with and become a part of a faith community. How long is the program?
The RCIA program begins in September when a new RCIA group is formed and runs until just a few weeks past Easter. Meetings are on Tuesday nights, 7 pm-9 pm, with one full-day retreat on a Saturday late into the program. If our schedule permits, we also plan a Saturday field trip to a major Catholic site for fellowship and off-site learning. Those who have prepared to come into the Catholic Church are initiated at the Easter Vigil each year.
What if I miss sessions due to work or family?
Our team is here for you. We are dedicated to helping you walk the path that God has for you. Sometimes, conflicts arise. When that happens, we are happy to walk with you one-on-one.
What if I decide, after attending some or all the sessions, that I am not ready and/or able to enter the Catholic Church?
The decision to enter the Church is yours and yours alone. Faith is personal. If you decide you are not ready or able, it is okay. We are here to walk with you on YOUR journey of faith.
History of RCIA
RCIA dates to the very Early Church. It is the process where fully initiated Catholics walk with those seeking full communion with the church. During your journey, you will be prepared to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. Moreover, through the witness and prayers of the community, RCIA prepares you to enter a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Then you can share your gifts and talents, at Christ’s call, to strengthen the Church.
