“Catechesis of The Good Shepherd” is a Catholic faith formation program for children ages 3-5. In the “Atrium,” a special welcoming place for children, they learn to pray and prepare for greater participation in the Mass.
The children listen to Bible stories about Jesus’ life and learn of His wonderful love for each of them. To make the Scripture come to life for these young children, they hold real mustard seeds when listening to the parable of the mustard seed and sheep figures when they listen to the story of the Good Shepherd.
To learn about and prepare for greater participation in the Mass, the children use items from a small sacristy cabinet to prepare a miniature altar. They learn names of Mass articles including paten, chalice, chasubles, etc.
