NOTE: Registration for Confirmation Prep for 2023-24 is now CLOSED.
St. Ignatius Parish welcomes students in 9th-11th grade to enter preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. To receive the sacrament, one needs to be spiritually ready and open to growing in his or her relationship with God and have a firm foundation in the teachings of our Catholic faith. Regular attendance at weekend Mass is essential to one's spiritual preparation.
Schedule: Preparation for candidates begins with a Day of Awakening (for students), followed by the Mass of Enrollment (for candidates with their families) in the Parish Church. These events are followed by 6 in-person gatherings on various Mondays, a Family Day of Service, and a day-long, off-campus retreat.
The Rite of Confirmation will be celebrated on January 24, 2024 at 5:30 pm with Bishop Adam Parker.
Off-campus retreat required: In addition to the classes, candidates will be required to attend an off-campus, full-day Confirmation Retreat on EITHER Saturday, October 14 or Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Service and training: All students in the program are required to compete the Archdiocese Worthy of the Call Training in order to participate in volunteer service at the church.
A Family Day of Service for candidates and parents will be required on EITHER Saturday, October 21 or Saturday, October 28, 2023, at First Fruit Farms in Freeland, MD.
