Coordinated by the Pastoral Associate, Eucharistic Ministry to the Homebound ensures that those who are unable to get to Mass can still receive Jesus in Holy Communion. This ministry takes place in the individual’s home, at the hospital, or nursing home. Please call Kathleen Roberts our Pastoral Associate if you or someone you love would benefit from this ministry.
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
Anyone whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age may receive this sacrament. The sacrament may be repeated each time a person becomes seriously ill, or if the illness worsens (Catechism of the Catholic Church [CCC], 1529). The Anointing of the Sick confers a special grace on the person experiencing the difficulties inherent to grave illness or old age (CCC, 1528). This beautiful sacrament unites the ill person to Christ and His suffering; strengthens the individual, giving peace and courage; offers forgiveness of sins, if needed; brings about restoration of health if conducive to one’s salvation; and prepares the Christian for passage into eternal life (CCC, 1532).
Anyone experiencing an illness, an impending hospitalization, or the debilitation and frailty of old age is encouraged to avail himself of this healing sacrament. You may make an appointment with one of the priests, or attend the celebration on first Saturdays following 4:00pm Mass.
